Pray Like a Child

Pray like a child

I love to hear kids pray.  Nobody has told them yet that they need to sound spiritual or use special words.  They pray straight from the heart.  God, I pray for my family and my sister who hit me today and my dog.  Um. And off they go with prayers that make adults snicker a little.  Why?  They’re just so honest, embarrassingly so.  I think God loves painfully vulnerable prayers.  We might as well be vulnerable, God knows it all already.  Still he loves us.  Who else do you have that already knows all the good and bad and still loves you.  Wants to talk with you.

Pray like a child because in fact, we are.  Children of God.  As we are honest with our heavenly Father, we cultivate a spirit of prayer throughout our day that can quickly go to him mentally about anything and everything and know that he loves us and cares deeply.

Rom. 8:15, as sons, we cry Abba, Father!  Think relationship, not ritual.  Give him your best time.  Pray honest, like a child talking with their Father, because spiritually, that is exactly what prayer is.
